I decided to plant a garden this year. I've never had the desire to do one in the past so I was pretty excited. So Bryan and I discussed it and he said "don't make it so big that its overwhelming". So I think to my self, I'll do a 10' x 10' garden. So he tells me to call and see how much it would cost to rent a tiller because we don't own one (yet). I tell the guy on the phone, i'm looking to do a 10'x 10'. After I get off the phone we head over to Home Depot to rent the tiller, get the tiller and come home. Bryan starts tilling. I end up with a 30' x 40' garden.. And it wasn't suppose to be overwhelming? WOW. So since it is FULL of weeds and grass, I get started on raking, and raking and raking. So Mackenzie comes over and helps rake, and we bring in a load of compost. and we rake, and rake and rake. Decide to take a break and end up at the Nursery. I bought carrots, zucchini, peas, beans, bell peppers, cucumbers and tomatoes. Came home and started planting, I was way excited to get the seeds in the ground. So that night, ya, it froze, tomatoes are dead :(. found out later we planted them way too early anyway, O'well. Mackenzie and Shane come over and we plant corn, and Shane was so nice to rig a sprinkler to water my garden. Waited and waited, (raked some more) Broccoli starts popping out of the ground, I'm SO excited, something is going to grow. Being my first garden, I find I get excited about each new plant. Then come the weeds. The alfalfa is the WORST.. If your not trying to grow it, it is the weed of the Devil. The roots reach to the Center of the Earth, I swear. Bryan's new job, Eliminate Alfalfa. soon the peas and the beans start popping, I'm even More excited. Yeah, more is going to grow. then the Zucchini popped out. Come to find out (or everyone says) i'm going to have enough zucchini to feed the neighbor hood. I have 4 plants growing. The bell peppers never made it, I even replanted them and they still never popped, so I went and bought some that were already about 5-6" tall. Cross your fingers. I also bought more tomato plants, 18 of them. Bryan insists that we have lots of tomatoes, I hope he has plans for them cuz they are all looking pretty good. Then he brings home another Tomato plant and a Jalapeno plant. So we now have 19 tomato plants.
So Finally Here are the pics of my garden. I took them today 6/9/2012.

I still want to plant some pumpkins and REALLY need to get them in the ground. The cucumbers never made it either, hoping to get some more of them in the ground too. I did spend about 4 hours out there this morning, pulling weeds. They needed to come out because the poor garden is going to be neglected for the next week and a half while I am out of town. (which is why i'm still thinking about getting those cucumbers and pumpkins in the ground, so they'll look Great or sad when I get back) The weather was Nice, I didn't plan on being out there that long, I went out early, before the sun was over the mountains. I waited and waited for it to get hot so I could come in. but that didn't happen, it stayed overcast and I got it all done, except the corn and those darn alfalfa plants.
